Whether you are creating goals to increase your fitness or take that next step professionally, always appreciate what you have been through to get you to this point.
Week of Sept 20th: "You can't always have a good day but you can face a bad day with a good attitude." -Unknown. The quality of our day is easily influenced by how we perceive the events around us. Facing each obstacle with a good attitude can lessen the bad days and increase your overall happiness.
Week of Sept 27th: Sometimes work, school, errands, and life gets hectic. Dedicate 30 minutes to yourself and focus on something that truly brings you joy. Whether that be reading a book, drawing, or sitting down for a cup of coffee- you owe it to yourself to take a break and recharge.
Week of Oct 4th: Are you feeling anxious or worrisome about something? Writing down your worries as they pop into your head and evidence for the contrary can help to recenter your thoughts, calm your anxieties, and strengthen your confidence. For example, someone worried about a job interview may write down the number of questions they rehearsed for in preparation for their interview, their stellar past performance at their most recent job, their confidence with public speaking, and their ability to think on the fly.
Week of Oct 11th: It is often not helpful to think about how we used to be- especially when we believe that version of ourselves to be better. The only thing we can do is focus on improving each day, and to be better than the day before.
Week of Oct 18th: When you wake up in the morning, don't roll over to check your phone! Some psychiatrists say reading your phone first thing in the morning can increase stress levels, cause anxiety, and disrupt what could be a peaceful process. Instead focus on something meaningful to you- whether that be family, meditation, nutrition, or self-reflection. Here's a news article if you want to read more.
Week of Oct 25th: Take time to enjoy nature and escape the crowds of the city. Walk outside, find a park, or take a trail. Try to focus on the sounds of the outdoors, the birds, the wind through the leaves- can you hear any wildlife? Try to quiet your mind and be in the moment. Forget your responsibilities and your to-dos, just for a few minutes.
